Full Moon Facts
Tonight, December 1st 2009, there is a full moon in the sky.  The moon will peak full at 730am on December 2nd so tonight is the waxing full moon.  The next full moon is on New Years Eve, December 31st 2009 peaking at 713pm.  In Pagan Lore, when a full moon happens twice in a month (on average every 2.7154 years), its called the blue moon.
Since 1819, The Maine Farmers’ Almanac has listed the dates of forthcoming blue moons. The compilers of the almanac didn’t use the ‘second full moon in a month’ definition that is now generally accepted but instead defined a blue moon as the third full moon in a season which has four.
Blue moons happen on Average 41 times in a century.  So I think that means this is the only time this century it will be happening on the last day of the year.  Thats pretty fuckin cool.  This New Years Eve we should all sing songs and howl loudly at the Blue Moon.
